Hi, my Mum loves her iPhone 3G but several times it has refused to turn on until it's plugged into itunes. The same screen that you get when you first get the iPhone- a USB terminal, iTunes icon and arrow- comes up on the screen and it only allows emergency calls.

My Mum is a bit upset and is considering getting another phone as she says she can't rely on the iPhone.

Does anyone know the reason why it does this? She never normally recharges her phone from the computer- is it something about the iPhone needing to be plugged into iTunes every so often? If so, how often? Or is it a defective phone which should be replaced? Or what?

I'd be grateful for the solution!

I have newer experienced this with my Iphone 3G looks like a replacement would be in order.

Thanks for replying! My Mum's just gone off to an Apple shop and hopefully they should sort it out!
