I got a 3G S the day it launched and just yesterday remembered that iPhone's have visual voicemail (a feature I loved on my Samsung Instinct) but I can't figure out how to set it up? I read step-by-step instructions online from a bunch of different sites but what they tell me to do I can't. It says to go to the phone mode and hit the voicemail key on the bottom and the first time you do the visual VM setup should pop up. Problem is, when I hit my VM key it just calls my VM. It's always done that, even the first time, it just called my VM then I had to follow the prompts to set it up but it's not visual, it's "old school" where you gotta listen to 'em all in order and press the right # key to save/erase etc. It sucks, especially after getting so used to visual VM.

Am I just missing the obvious here or doing something wrong, or does the 3G S or AT&T not support visual VM? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

AT&T supports it.

After dialing into your voice mailbox and setting up, you're supposed to get a pop up asking for your voicemail password the next time you dial in and hang up.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be coming up for you.

Mine doesn't do that for some reason. When I end the VM call it just goes right to the keypad dial screen. There is no trace of visual VM for me. I've even gone through all the settings in both the VM call itself and the phone's setting screen (including looking through every option in the "general settings" area), I can find nothing.

Go to the AT&T web site and log in. Look on the right side for "Reset voicemail password". Click this and it'll give a prompt that the password has been reset to your phone number. Go back to Voicemail and it'll be good as new.

Note: You will lose previously saved voicemail when upgrading/switching over so both Apple and AT&T recommend backing up any you want to save.

Thanks for the info but it didn't work. I went to the site and did it and, like you said, it sent me a text with my new password, which it told me was the last 7 digits of my number, but when I go to the VM "tab" it still just automatically calls my VM and I'm logged in, never asks me for a password or anything, it's really weird, and starting to annoy me.
