Hi,

I did a search, but couldn't find an answer -- please direct me to one if I missed it.

Anyway, I use Apple Mail with multiple Gmail accounts all set up using IMAP. Works great. I read a message, it is marked unread in both Apple Mail and the Gmail web interface. All is in sync.

I had the iPhone 3G S automatically get my Apple Mail settings so that I could use my Gmail accounts on my iPhone (via IMAP, I thought). Settings migrated over just fine. I was able to see my email on the iPhone now.

But, the syncing is not working correctly. I thought that when I read a message on my iPhone that it would be reflected in Apple Mail. But no, it is not working. I have to actually close Apple Mail to get the updated "read/unread" status.

So, for example, if I have 10 unread messages in both iPhone and Apple Mail, and I read 3 on the iPhone -- I get 7 on the iPhone, but Apple Mail still stays at 10 indefinitely.

Is this a known problem, or am I missing something?

Thanks!

how did you get mail to mark them as read on the server? on mine they are marked as read locally on mail but still show as unread on the server :(

Are you talking about when you go to gmail.com? Sometimes if I am already logged in, I have to click on the "Inbox" link, but it refreshes itself.

Is there is solution to this problem yet?

Hi, I just looked into it, and I think imap is the way to go. Look at the gmail help page to learn how to configure your accounts on both your Apple mail and your iPhone. Hope it works, haven't completely tested it
