I bought the new iPhone 3GS last thursday, and i've wondered why i haven't actually had a phone call yet, i asked around my mates and they said my phone is always offline, so i borrowed one of their phones and rang myself, with my iPhone in my hand and on the home screen (clearly on), instantly it said "The number you have dialed is not recognized, please try again later".

I looked around on some forums and on google, and i found something about voicemail, and how you should delete it. I tried to delete it but because i currently don't have any credit, it takes my straight to the top-up hotline, so i can't do that.

So unless anyone here can tell me how to fix this, looks like i'm taking a trip back to the o2 store, again.

Many thanks,
Ryan

Ring O2's free help line from the mobile and get them to sort it out. I have my voicemail on (I also have a PAYG 3GS) and I can recieve calls fine, but it didn't work the very first time.

The number will be in the SIM pack that came with your phone. It's something like 4040.

Really? When I made a call to that number, the first thing it said was "this call is free" and it didn't take any credit.
