iPhone 3G says 'Different SIM Detected Please connect to iTunes'

OK, So I just put a new o2 SIM car into my iPhone and it says:

'Different SIM detected Please connect to iTunes'

I have connected my iPhone to iTunes and nothing is happening...

Please help.

Edit: oh yeah, i haven't jail-broken or unlocked the iPhone.

Have you tried a Hard Reset? That may clear it. If it doesn't, put it into DFU mode to restore the phone and then you'll be able to reactivate it.

you're thinking of recovery mode! in order to put it in recovery mode to be able to restore it again make sure the phone is disconnected from the pc/mac, turn off and when you turn it off..hold the home button down as you plug it back in to the pc/mac, itunes will see it in recovery mode and ask you to restore it!

No he means DFU, connect to your computer, hold home + power for 10 seconds then let go of power but hold home for about 20-30 seconds longer.

its in theory the same thing! but recovery mode is easier/faster!!! there's no need to wait 20-30 seconds when putting it in recovery mode, and in recovery mode itunes will recognize the phone in "recovery" mode and ask you to restore it!

i stand corrected on the recovery and DFU mode!

i guess i need to know what the OP is trying to do, if he's trying to JB the phone, putting it in recovery mode and connecting to itunes will help him install the ISPW file that he most likely got from quickpwn by holding shift when he goes to restore, then when that's done and you're ready to run quickpwn is when it goes into DFU mode, which quickpwn will put it in for you/guide you

if you're trying to restore it to factory settings w/out jailbreaking and using it on the cell phone provider it was intended for putting it in recovery mode is what you want to do
