This never used to happen. Any ideas how to speed this up? Syncing to macbook pro. Thanks

I have found that there are some applications that contribute to long backup times during syncing. One is AppSniper, unless you clear the icon cache before syncing. You might think about anything new you have installed and delete it to see if it is the problem.

I am beginning to suspect PandoraBox too.

I just found this from Apple support pages:

"I'm betting there is a crash report hanging up your sync. Go to the following folder on your Mac :

Macintosh/Library/Users/Logs/CrashReporter

If there is a folder in there for mobile devices, delete that folder. Should clear up your sync issues."

I've deleted a lot of App Sniper crash reports from the mobile device folder. For some reason I need to play around with the iPhone before re-syncing for it to take ages. So I will see if this has worked once I've used the phone for a while. Thanks for your input.

And I'm going to check for those crash logs when I get home this evening!

Well just re-synced after downloading some new apps. Fixed it for me any how...

This just started happening to me, as well. I let it try and sync for 90 minutes today and it got to about 70 percent and stayed there, I have no mobile folder in my crashreporter folder. Meanwhile it deleted all my ringtones. Any help? Thanks.

Make sure that you look in your user name folder rather than macintosh HD. So something like:

Matthew/library/logs/crashreports/mobiledevice/mattewsiphone

This is from memory- I'm posting from my iPhone.

I found and cleared the crash reports. The next back up took a really long time, more or less like a first one. I'm not yet sure whether routine back ups are faster now. I think they aren't, but it will take a few more to be sure.

Yes, thanks, I did that. I am completely unable to sync. It stops about 70% of the way through. It will not complete. HELP!

Nightmare. Not sure why this has happened to you. Did you delete the actual folder (i.e. in my case Jason's iPhone?)? See how mine looks.

Im no computer expert- but I'd try re-installing this area from a time machine back up.

Mine is working mush better after clearing out the crash reports. Less than 5 minutes now.

It seems as if the crash reports are still on the iPhone and that they just get downloaded back to the desktop. Maybe corrupt ones get cleared?

No idea on that score. Coudl do with somebody who is proficient on OSX. I just dabble with it if I'm honest
