I've done some searching around but can't find this specific problem...
Problem:
Whenever I plug my iPhone into my MacBook (10.4.9), iTunes will start up, load library, detect the iPhone, then immediately crash. The crash reporter will come up, ask if I want to reopen, which never works. If I open iTunes without the iPhone attached, everything's fine. Once I plug in the iPhone, as soon as iTunes starts to detect it, it crashes. The iPhone does not show in Finder and does not charge.
Possible Cause:
Unknown. This started seemingly out of nowhere; the only changes would have been updating to 2.0.2 and installing some App Store applications on the iPhone.
Attempted Fixes:
1) Uninstalled/reinstalled latest version of iTunes 7 (haven't tried 8 yet) - uninstallation included removing all preference files, etc;
2) Uninstalled latest version of iTunes 7 and reverted to previous version of 7;
3) Soft reset of iPhone;
4) Uninstalled most App Store apps, including all new installations;
5) Synched iPhone on an iMac running Leopard (no problems);
6) Tried different USB cables (coincidentally found that the iPhone won't charge with most aftermarket or Apple-branded iPod USB cables); and
7) Swearing, cursing, smacking my MacBook, iTunes, and my iPhone.
Any thoughts? I'm getting pretty frustrated, since I can't sync, update, charge, or do anything on my iPhone from my MacBook now.
Thanks in advance.
