on the dev team website it says it will have support for iPhone 3g, it says it can be activated and jailbroken. As I already have mine activated do I still need to do this? Because is I'd true when you 'hacktivate' you cannot call or text anyone?
Thanks in advance!

on your level (0 )of pwnage you'll probably end up with paperweight.

when a firmware is restored you always need to activate your iphone.
restore also whipes the phone completely.
and if hacktivate would make you in able to text or call then the hack would be useless. think brother :)

To answer your question: Even if your 3G is activated, you can still activate. Jailbreaking has nothing to do with activation. Activation is for those people who but it unactivated and want to unlock the phone at the same time.

Hacktivate just means that you hack into your iPhone in order to bypass the activation that you go through at AT&T, O2 or other official carrier's store.

iPhone 3G Activation

Ok sorry if this is redundant, but if I were to buy an iPhone 3G off of craigslist or something, would I be able to use my current AT&T SIM card with it, or would I have to take it in to Apple or AT&T to get it activated? I just want to make sure that I could use the iPhone 3G without paying for the data package. I know you can do this with the 2G.

Nope, it needs to be unlocked (the iPhone is locked to it's simcard)

Unless the iPhone you're buying is unlocked. Otherwise, a rebelsim or other sim hack could get it to work with the sim of your choice.
