iPhone 3G without AT&T plan?

I can't find the definitive answer to my questions so I'm asking here...

  • Can I buy an iPhone 3G in the US without a contract?
  • How much does it cost?
  • Since I'll be living for 6 months in the US and then back to Europe: will I be able to use the iPhone 3G with an European SIM?

  1. Not yet, AT&T and Apple will sell a phone without contract soon
  2. Pricing, i believe is 499 and 599
  3. you will need to unlock it for the european sim to work
