iPhone iPhone 3GS 06.15.00 No SIM Error!

Hi, My iPhone 3GS with os 5.1.1 with boot 06.15.00 that keeps saying no SIM card installed when there is a sim installed and the wifi does not work either. I cant figure out what is wrong with it! I bought it used and the guy said it stop working with sim cards after restoring it. Ive jailbroke it but it still does work the sims! Please help! :(

Was it working before you restored it? Like when you bought it?
 
No when I got it had already been restored so I had to jailbreak it to just activate it without the sim card part. And I tried downgrading the boot but it did not change anything
 
Have you checked to make sure it's not a new bootrom 3GS? If it is and the previous owner put the iPad baseband on it, it's very likely the baseband chip is fried.

I'm not sure if the new bootrom 3GS's will even show that the iPad baseband is on it. So regardless that your phone currently says 06.15.00, if I were you I'd figure out when it was manufactured and go from there.

The new bootrom is not what makes the baseband stop working. The new baseband chip that was used something in November of 2011 is. The phone saying that is has 6.15.00 alone is enough to know that the baseband is not bricked. A bricked baseband will not say what version is installed.
 
Ya I checked that out and it was made in 2009 so I dont believed its bricked I just dont know what to do now?
 
First try re-installing the ipad baseband. If re-installing the ipad baseband with Redsn0w does not help, then you may have a hardware problem or minor problem with the SIM tray or the contacts that tell the iPhone a SIM is inserted.
 
I should also say the phone says in the about section. Network not available. Version 5.1.1 Carrier not avaible. Model MC133LL. Wifi Adress N/A. Bluetooth F8:1E:DF:3A:95:80 IMEI 01 203100 302470 1. ICCID NO SIM. Modem firmware 06.15.00 If that helps?
 
ok downgraded to 05.13.04 baseband and the phone still says no sim card and Im stuck at the setup screen because it cant read the sim card :(
 
Ok im activated again and the modem firmware says 05.13.04 but its still not working :(
 
So I downgraded the boot same problem. Then upgraded again saim problem. I have no idea what to do :(
 
Does the phone restart on its own? When you get phones that restart by themselves, it's definitely hardware; a lot of times the baseband goes bad, but it may be partially working in your case. First thing to do would be to take out the SIM tray and check inside to make sure you see all 6 clips(2 rows of 3). If it looks like one is pushed down, remove the screen assembly by removing the two screws near the charging port and pry up the screen with a suction cup. Verify that the SIM slot is damaged. Buy a replacement SIM reader for about $3 on eBay, and make sure you carefully desolder the old SIM reader. Once desoldered, wipe down the area carefully with alcohol and then apply flux to prepare it for soldering.

For the WiFi chip, you'll need to remove it and then reflow it with solder paste using a similar process above. If that doesn't work, your WiFi chip likely needs to be replaced. If it's just searching for a WiFi connection, you might just need to replace the little connector ribbon(#6), which takes about 5 minutes. You may also need to replace the actual connector hole. The actual cost of parts are very minimal, but the repair is detailed at time.

This may not fix your issue, but it's a good place to start if you want to do it yourself.
