Hello, I recently had a new iphone 3gs shipped to me last friday (june 19th)

I didnt really use it much over the weekend, however on sunday night i charged it up overnight so i would have full battery the next day. when i woke up to my surprise after being plugged in for around 6-7 hours the battery was at 92% and it was "still charging." this has happened to me almost every day. The only time the phone was fully charged was when i was syncing with my macbook. Not only is that a problem, i was listening to some music in the car on my way to work (plugged in my cars 3.5mm audio jack) and when i unplugged it the battery was at 71% (drive was around 35 minutes). This never happened with my 3g. usually it would lose no more than 1% plugged in to my car.

I think this huge drop in battery is because my phone isnt being fully charged because after that 71% it only dropped to 65% by the end of the day however the phone was always warm when i used it.

So my question is, first, are other people having these problems (3gs only), 2nd is the huge battery drop because my phone wasnt charged, and 3rd is there any possible explanation as to why my phone isnt being charged fully.

If it means anything I'm using the 3g dock connector thing which my dad had got me around 7 months ago.

There seems to be some battery issues with the 3.0 firmware, its on any type of iPhone (2g, 3g, 3gs) but know knows what it is yet, i'm hoping for Apple to acknowledge this.

I've been noticing a similar issue with my iPhone 3G S. I haven't really seen what the charge percentage was each morning, but I am noticing my battery is not lasting like (I think) it should. I still had the original iphone (4 gig) that I bought 2 years ago (never replaced or serviced) until last friday and the battery in that phone still lasted way longer my 3GS battery does. I don't use the new one any more or less than the old, so I'm stumped...

I don't have any answers, but wanted to throw my experience in there too. Anyone heard any explanations?

Same thing...I just upgraded to the iPhone 3gs but the battery is soooo much worse than 2.2.1 on my iPhone 3g...usually 1hr 45 mins of usage and 6 hours of standby=85% battery on the 3g..on the 3gs, the battery is at 70% with the same usage/services turned on...

I am wondering if its the software or if my phone is a lemon...either way, if it keeps up this way over the next few weeks im returning this for a new one...

This is worse

2 hours 26 mins just on Standby and battery is at 54% and
it says usage 2 hours 21 mins but I have not used it although wi fi is on
surely it's got a big problem somewhere ?

Update,
Usage 3Hours 33 mins
Standby 4 hours 0 mins
Battery now at 23%

Funny thing is I am not using the phone at all !!!!! so not sure why it says Usage 3 hours 33 mins ?
Wifi is on thats it ?

3rd charge from flat battery, if this was memory effect I don't think it would have gone to 100% in the first place, Is this right

Cheers
Lewis

some people have been saying its because of 3.0, but my original iphone and iphone 3g have the same, if not increased battery life on 3.0, but idk what to think about the 3gs
