Hi,

What's the actual value of a used, unlocked iPhone 3GS 32GB White (in good condition)?

And what's the new price for a New one (that's unlocked)?

What about getting one on craigslist/eBay etc.?

Would it be worth than to upgrade than?
Where are iPhones usually cheaper - in Miami (South Beach) or New York City as I will be traveling between those two destinations a couple of times in the near future...

I have a well working cell phone but I'm thinking of getting one as a personal organizer/mini computer/game console but the majority of postings say to wait - gets me nervous :)

Thanks in advance!!

I paid about $500 for my 3gs in white 32gb. Jailbroke and unlocked it so I'm using it on tmobile right now.A new one from the apple store would be $699 I believe. If I were you though, I would just wait. From all the rumors flying around with 4.0, new cam, and more competition, Apple really has to show something great this WWDC. You already have a phone that works fine.

I don't get why this question is asked so much.

If you buy one now and keep it in good condition and keep it unlockable, you will sell it for enough money that you can purchase any new one at a contract price (you should make at least $500 off it, no less than $400).

Used 32GB iPhones generally range from 500-600 on craigslist, slightly more on eBay. As far as unlocked phones, the US ones come SIM locked, so you either have to unlock it yourself or go overseas to get a factory locked one.

If I were you, I would also wait, as suggested by many others. iPhones generally go through an annual upgrade, during the first half of the summer. For some reason, there is some speculation that the 4th generation iPhone is going to be a bigger upgrade than that of other upgrades in the past. With the launch of so many smartphones like the Nexus One, and other potential game changers from now till June/July, it seems Apple have to step up their phone even further to compete with other phones, and keep theirs even more attractive to consumers. 2009 is already coming to an end, and it's going to be another 6 months before you can get your hands on the latest and greatest iPhone. Happy phone hunting! :)

Thank you thank you thank you so much, my dears!!!

I have just made up my mind to still wait and to use my INTERNAL organizer [=brain] in the meantime although of course any kind of iPhone is a temptation for anybody not owning one :)

Wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year! Let's hope we won't get disappointed by the new MacBook Pro & iPhone updates this year! :)

Love and Peace!
