iPhone iPhone 3GS downgrade from 6.0 to 5.1.1 got 1600 error.

environment:
iPhone 3GS old br
with iOS 6.0 official release.
OSX 10.8 / iTunes 10.7

I want to downgrade to 5.1.1.

I have shsh saved.

I open TinyUmbrella, start the server, and iPhone 3GS is in PWN DFU mode.
OPen iTunes, ALT + Click "Restore", select 5.1.1 firmware.

After a couple sec, got 1600.

How can I fix it?

Use redsn0w to stich your hash and apticket to the firmware. Open TU and set hosts to apple servers, not cydia servers. Shift click restore in iTunes then select the stitched firmware. Do not use the TSS server in TU.

Do you mean build a custom firmware for restore?

And I should not start TSS?

Yes. Make a backup of your device first just to be safe. In redsn0w navigate to blobs (sorry can't remember exact steps off the top) then choose stitch. Follow the redsn0w instructions. It's easy. You will stitch your 5.1.1 blobs to the official 5.1.1 firmware (you can download that from iClarified). After its successful and you're all done with that, put your phone in DFU mode then shift click restore in iTunes. When itunes asks, choose the 5.1.1 firmware that you stitched your blobs to earlier. Make sure your hosts files are pointed to the apple servers. You do not use the tiny umbrella TSS server for iOS5 firmwares. Do you have your blobs saved locally to your computer? I find it easiest when I have them locally opposed to grabbing them from cydia. I only mention this because redsn0w has given me problems in the past trying to pull the blobs remotely. Maybe that was an isolated problem that I experienced.

You can probably find a tutorial on iClarified if you're still confused.

Edit: I just looked at your original post. The TU picture looks like your host file is pointed to apple so you should be ok. Basically all you need to do is once you combine your 5.1.1 blob and the 5.1.1 firmware, put your phone in DFU mode then shift click restore in iTunes. Select the modified firmware file and it should be smooth sailing.

For reference:

also comment out

#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

in /private/etc/hosts.

and don't use TU

Awesome! I'm glad you got it figured out. Thanks for the additional info too. I'm sure someone will find it helpful if they run into similar problems.
 
error 3194

Hey guys,

i did all those steps but instead i got error 3194
i though my host file was wrong but it looks like its all OK
all directed to apple servers.

i honestly dont know what to do now .. can anyone help out please?!

Hmm, sounds like same steps I followed.

Double check "hosts" file, see if there is any lines contain 'gs.apple.com', remove them.

Make sure you flush DNS, and quit > re-open iTunes after hosts file cleared.

Error 3194 means your host file is not pointed properly or your hash and APTicket are not complete.

i had the same problem ,same errors
if you did enter dfu mode manually not with redsnow that is your problem.
Try entering dfu mode with redsnow --> Pwned dfu

Im having the same exact problem. Do I need to downgrade from a non-jailbroken 6.0 to 5.1.1 or can I just put my jailbroken 6.0 in pwnd dfu and downgrade once i use sn0wbreeze to stitch my SHSH to the 5.1.1 ipsw?
 
Got It!!!

Following you guys' posts, I fired up sn0wbreeze 2.9.6, stitched my SHSH to the freshly downloaded .ipsw. I removed any and all host entries related to apple in the host file, flushed the DNS, put the phone in DFU mode as prompted by sn0wbreeze and let it put it into pwnd DFU. I fired up iTunes, shift+Restore'd and it all went perfectly!

I now have a freshly installed, pre-jailbroken 5.1.1!

If I was unclear on my steps and it would help someone for me to clarify... please say so! I'd love to give back the help I have gotten here!
 
Finally Success!

I tried so many different "downgrade methods" the past couple days and this one finally worked for me. I'm STOKED
Stitched my SHSH to IPSW 5.1.1 using redsnow
Used redsnow to put my phone into PWNED DFU
Used iTunes Alt+Restore to access my custom stitched IPSW
Restore went like clockwork and my device is back to 5.1.1 instead of 6.0 :D

iPhone 3GS (5.1.1, new br, currently untethered jailbreak but want to start fresh; running out of space and ram)

I have my device 5.1.1 SHSH blops that I got from the Cydia servers by using TinyUmbrella. After this I used the latest version of redsn0w (0.9.13dev4) to stitch the newly downloaded IPSW of 5.1.1 for 3GS that I got off of iClarified.

After that I put my 3GS in pwned DFU mode.

At this point I removed the gs.apple.com lines from my host file and flushed the DNS through Terminal, opened up iTunes (latest version) and held down shift while clicking restore, chose the snitched IPSW that I just made however at the end it doesn't work.

"This device isn't eligible for this requested build"

I've double checked several times that I got the right iPSW from iClarified and the correct SHSH blops from TinyUmbrella and there's no mistake.

I can't figure out what's wrong.. ugh.

Anyone got any ideas?
 
try regular DFU
make sure host is pointing to apple (type gs.apple.com in browser, it should take you to apple)
try sn0wbreeze on a (virtual) windows machine
 
Normal DFU mode is just holding down home + power for 10 seconds and then releasing power for 5 seconds outside of redsn0w isn't it?

Just tried that, same message.

I've tried stitching remotely from the Cydia servers using redsn0w but the result is the same.

It took awhile but I've got the Virtual Machine running, have stitched the IPSW with the SHSH blops file and all went well, put into Pwned DFU mode in iREB and began the restoration on iTunes.

Everything was going well, iPhone started restoring and I could see that cool little frost icon and the loading bar on my iPhone, but then I got error 14 and my iPhone went into recovery mode.

Restored back to iOS 6 and tried to repeat the process from my Mac, Pwned DFU mode in redsn0w then tried restoring with iTunes, same result, frost icon; loading bar on iPhone probably hits around 10% and then I get error 14 once again.

What now? :s

Custom firmware update fail (PwnageTool until 4.0.1). You have to restore the device with a custom firmware. Update to a custom firmware isn't working. Device isn't bootable.

2 USB Problem. Check the USB connection and try other direct ports or maybe the USB cable is an older one. Device isn't bootable.

You're trying to 'update' to a beta firmware instead of performing a restore. Device is still bootable if you kick it out of recovery mode.
Rebooting your Mac or PC may resolve this issue.

Root file-system partition size was set too small in the ramdisk's options plist.



Did you try to kick it out of recovery after the first error 14?

Should I try remake the IPSW with iFaith?

I can restore iOS 6 fine so I don't see how this is an issue with USB ports.

I can't kick it out of Recovery mode, not with TinyUmbrella or redsn0w.

I can't kick it out of Recovery mode, when I try to do it with TinyUmbrella or redsn0w it just goes right back into Recovery mode.
