The 3g would slow down after a while after JB. And when I installed themes it would be slow from the get go. Backgrounder would crash ALOT so it was like not having it installed in the first place. I would enable pandora with background than surf the web, 3 minutes later pandora closed.

With the 3gS all these problems do NOT exist! And it never slows down no matter what I install from cydia. I have a 22mb complete theme installed and the iPhone moves FAST! pandora and other streaming apps never crash even after long extended usage. This phone is a PLEASURE to use with a JB because it works as if apple wanted us to now use jailbreak apps, haha.

If you been on the fence, DO IT, it's well worth it!!

I would have to agree that JB iPhone 3GS is nice and fast. I never JB my 3G because of the reported slowdowns so I can't speak to the speed or lack thereof.

What did you use to Jailbreak the 3GS?

And for how long does your battery last?

And for how long does your battery last?

Since I purchased the 3gs I have not bothered to let the battery run down to test. The reason is because it has been doing really well. After the JB I have NOT notice any difference at all.

I will say that when I unplug the phone its at 100%, than I surf the web for about 30 minutes and the phone is still at 100%. Keep in mind I have my backlight bright enough to see things well. I don't like the brightness to be blinding and that DOES reduce the battery life faster.

Very happy with this 3gS, SPECIALLY with it jailbraked! I do not think I could ever ever and I mean EVER go back to apples way of running the phone. With the following apps from cydia the 3gs is crazy nice and awesome to use.

Five dock - instead of the 4 apps at bottom you get 5.

ipod widget -which you tap on top of screen and press play and will play music each time with a different starting song.

BackGrounder - great for keeping apps in the background. I use G-maps voice navigation while streaming music. I keep other apps open and the phone never slows down, very awesome.

MxTube - you can download and KEEP your favorite you tube videos. You can also just stream them as well. The COOL thing is that you can watch HIGH quality as if your on wifi ON 3G! I HATE the stock you tube because on 3G the videos look UGLY. MxTube streams the videos like the Palm Pre,HQ (which I loved).

SBSettings and some toggles - Man, this just makes everything fantastic. I can turn on and off 3G, locations, wifi, brightness, in a flash. No need to use the stock setting to do this! I also have a "fast notes" for those quick writes without leaving the app I'm in. Theres so much more feature in this app as well when you click on "more."

Sleep - Stream pandora listening to love songs and I set sleep for 30 minutes and sleep shuts down pandora! Very handy, even if you like watching a video as you fall sleep. Set it, and forget it.

Themes- I have illumine, Hi-tech, Vista Mobile. My favorite is Hi-tech and I use vista mobile just for the "slide screen" to unlock the phone. Looks nicer and to ME its easier to unlock.

You guys that dont like JB are really, really missing out!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that the 3GS is lightyears ahead of the 3G when it comes to jailbreaking - I couldn't stand how slow my 3G was when I jailbroke it, but with the 3GS it's actually tolerable.

That said, the difference between a stock 3GS and a jailbroken one is night and day. My phone has been jailbroken since the beginning of July, and my wife's phone is very noticeably faster and more responsive. The difference isn't enough to make me give up SBSettings, Winterboard, and 3G Unrestrictor - but it's pretty close. Every time I use her phone I seriously reconsider my jailbreak ... :(

Really? I have used other 3GS's and don't notice a difference. Check out my Cydia Apps and mQuickDo reviews in my signature so you can see how fast my 3GS is.

Yeah, my phone seems pretty fast too - until I use my wife's phone, that is. I'd do a video comparison but it wouldn't be totally fair as I ant really commandeer her phone all day to restore from my backup in iTunes and do an apples to apples comparison.

Duh...;)

so by updating firmware and jb phones? does it clean out everything?

Good question. In MY expirience the programs that jailbreak have never worked for me until I wipe everything to factory. Than they all work and after the JB I sync to iTunes as a NEW device than I install all my stuff. I have never done a restore and I highly suggest you don't do it either.

It's just for a piece of mindto start fresh before jailbreaking.

how do you restore from a backup? im looking around itunes..i see a restore button, but it says it'll restore to original setting. sorry for asking too many noob questions. i searched and they seem to be all scattered everywhere.

thank god it wasn't me loosin my mind I thought my 3G was slow, I am a brand new iPhone 3G owner as of weekend just gone and yeh I had to jailbreak to use with another network in UK and I have had my iPhone on charge almost the whole time since it was delivered and has crashed a lot more than when I was using my 1st gen iPod Touch but still loving havin an iPhone :D

After it is restored, there will be a separate screen letting you choose a backup or set it up as new. Can't access it in advance.
