The initial activation and sync went well (mostly, other than copying a bunch of previously listened podcasts...) However, I can no longer sync... I've tried the de-authorize computer, authorize; restarted the phone; restarted the computer; even went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. I'm on a 24" iMac, running OS X 10.5.7, iTunes 8.2, and iPhone OS 3.0 (only option on the 3GS so far...) I really need to get this going - my wife's 3GS comes in tomorrow and I've gone on and on about how easy everything is. If nothing else, I've opened a case with Apple and will be calling them tomorrow night...

I'm having a similar problem. I connect my new iPhone 3Gs to iTunes and it seems to freeze iTunes. After about 10 minutes it shows up and I was finally able to load the backup from my original iPhone (first gen) onto my new 3Gs. Unfortunatly the music and apps did not sync. Everytime I try to re-sync my new iPhone 3Gs to iTunes to sync the music and apps, it freezes up and won't work.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice. I've shutdown and restarted both phone and computer. I'm on windows XP service pack 2. My original iPhone now freezes iTunes. I don't know what's up or how to fix it and I doubt I can go into apple and talk to a genius b/c they will prob say it's my comp. I've never had this issue with my last phone... This whole upgrade process has been a nightmare... I wonder if it was this bad for the first 3G upgrade that many people did...

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!

I'm still stuck, iTunes crashes every single time. I'm heading to the Apple store today (need to pick up a couple cases), so I'll be trying to talk to a genius while I'm there. My next step it to wipe the phone and start over - I'm nervous about even trying that, what if the sync fails then???

I've been having a similar problem with my girlfriend's 3Gs. It will not sync and an error message reading "Could not perform iTunes Store request. Store may be busy." it shows up under devices as "iPhone" but does nothing more. If I plug in my 3G it works fine. We have an appointment to see a genius today so hopefully they can help. I suspect something was not done correctly when the phone was first activated at the Apple Store.

I've even restored that, no use... I can install the apps no problem, but music just won't go on it.
It gives an error like "the device expired" or another one like "couldn't find the appropriate disc"
