iPhone IPhone 3gs jailbreak - a little help please?

I've never done this before so I apologize if I sound ridiculous at any point.

I have an IPhone 3gs I want to jailbreak and just want to make sure it is possible before trying anything. It is updated to 6.0.1 (10A523). The serial number indicates that it was made after the 35th week so it is the new bootrom. Am I alright to jailbreak this phone? If so, should I use redsnOw or something else? Thank you kindly.

It will be a tethered JB on 6.01 for now, use redsn0w.

if you wait 1 week you will have an untethered JB for 6.01 or 6.1
