iPhone 3GS Jailbreak on 3.1.3 Question

So I got a black 16 GB iPhone 3GS off craigslist and I don't believe that it has ever been jailbroken. I am on ATT so I don't need it to be unlocked. Would I be able to Jailbreak it by using snowbreeze since I don't need it unlocked? I am on software 3.1.3 and modem firmware 5.12.01. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. You cant JB a stock 3.1.3 3GS model at the moment no matter what you try to use.
You can check to see if the previous owner had it JB before and had its SHSH's saved thru cydia so you can then try to downgrade it to 3.1.2 and then JB.

Ok, well thanks for your advice, I tried contacting the old owner but I was not successful. If I went ahead and attempted to try downgrading and then jailbreaking to see if maybe it was jailbroken in the past and say it doesn't work would I be able to retract back to the current 3.1.3 software? If so what would I do to make it go back to normal they way it is now??
