I have iPhone 3GS, it is one of the old models, non-MC, model: MB715LL. I was able to tether with BenM hack under 3.0 however as soon as I heard my employer was giving out aircards I upgraded to 3.1.3 but instead of an aircard we got new laptop with integrated CDMA modem running on Sprint EVDO Rev A network. So basically I lost flexibility to tether my personal computers. I read on Redmond Pie that sn0wbreez can jailbreak 3.1.3 but have to be non-MC model, which I have. However my boot ROM is 05.12.01. So I would like to know if jailbreak is possible to enable tethering. Is the model has to be non-MC and boot ROM has to be older version or as long as its non-MC model, one should be able to jailbreak 3GS on 3.1.3?

There is so much wrong here I don't know where to begin.

First of all, your model number has nothing to do with whether you can jailbreak your phone. Model number prefix only matters for the second generation iPod Touch.

Second of all, 05.12.01 is not your boot rom, but your modem firmware version (a.k.a. baseband). This does not affect jailbreaking at all. It only affects unlocking (for use with non-AT&T SIMs).

Third, there is no software which can jailbreak a 3GS which has already been updated to 3.1.3, no matter what its model number. The software you mention can only allow you to upgrade an already jailbroken phone 3GS to 3.1.3 without losing its jailbreak.

need advise urgently for buying iphone

hi, i am a bit clueless about the new technologies and jailbreaking/unlocking. I plan to buy the iphone 3gs 32 gigs from apple store in the u.s. and i want to use it in my country for which i will need to get it unlocked. I have been reading that the newer phones are unhackable.. Does that mean that it is a waste for me to buy the iphone from here??????
