I am looking at buying an iPod Touch 3g. The thing that I noticed was that 32gb model of the 3gs is the exact same price. I am on verizon now and I want to know if the 3gs can be unlocked to work with verizon. Also if I buy the iPhone 3gs, will there be a 2 year contract? Hoping to ditch my old crappy phone soon so please help soon.

The iPhone is GSM, you will not be able to use it on Verizon (CDMA). If you buy one (provided not from eBay) you will be required to sign up for a 2-year contract with AT&T unless you buy it unsubsidized from them.

In order to get 3gs at that low price, you'd need to sign a two-year contact with at&t. Otherwise, it's $699. And no, iPhones don't work with Verizon, even if you unlock it. Only other major cell phone company in the US with compatible cell technology is T-mobile.

and it's still not 100% compatible. you don't get 3G on T-Mobile with an unlocked iPhone.
