I'm having trouble troubleshooting and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this trouble.

I had to trade in my iPhone 3gs due to battery issues and the next week iPhone OS 3.1 dropped. I've only seen this happen since updating, but then I didn't have much chance to watch for it before I updated either.

I'll try to restart my phone and it'll get the spinning wheel as normal before shutdown. The screen will go dark (but not "off"), the wheel spins a bit more, then my lock screen prompting for my passcode comes up. I'll put in the passcode, the lockscreen clears, the wheel pops again and it finishes shutting down.

Anyone else?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS (White, 32GB): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7C144 Safari/528.16)

Happens on both of my 3GSs too. Apparently Apple was unable to test 3.1 on a 3GS before releasing it.

Thanks for the reply mavis. I was concerned that I got a lemon replacement phone!
