Hi

My girlfriend's contract has now ended and she is moving from 3 to someone else. She is looking at the iPhone 3Gs, which i think is very expensive for what it is (£185 on a 18month £35pm contract), but i have few questions.

Is there actually any difference between the iPhone and the iPhone 3gs? Can you bluetooth pics/mp3s via the iphone and other phones now? Can you set your own text and ringtone? Is the iPhone actually missing any basic features still which phones phone have?

Hope someone can answer my questions soon, she is going out shopping for a phone tomorrow.

Many thanks in advance :)

The iphone 3G and 3Gs are essentially the same phone, the 3G only comes in one size-8Gb where the 3Gs comes in 16Gb and 32Gb. The 3Gs is also faster- it has more RAM and i believe a better GFX chip (dont quote me on it though!)

Im not too sure about the tariffs and rates set in the U.S on AT&t. I know that the iphone 3Gs is quite a bit more expensive in most regards for PAYG and Monthly tariffs

Hope that helps :)

Im just also woundng can you bluetooth pics/mp3s via the iphone and other phones now, cuz i used to know bluetooth was locked and you could on pair headsets? Can you set your own text and ringtone?

Unfortunately there's no sending pictures or mp3's over bluetooth. Also, you can create your own ringtones (there's tutorials all over the place here on how to do it with Garageband, iTunes or other software) but as for text messages, you have to use the alerts supplied by Apple (unless, of course, you jailbreak).

thanks for the replies guys!

TBH for the phone everyone raves about its pretty limited:rolleyes:. I can see why myself and lot of other people love Blackberry's :p

wow you must be new around here

So your reasoning is that because its missing small features that almost no one will use (when is the last time you sent someone an mp3 over your phone ? ) You would rather use a crappier phone/OS, the rest of the time ?

Most of us are aware of the limitations of the iPhone, but its still the phone currently available :apple:
