Hi guys

10 days ago I've sent my iPhone 3GS back for replacement because SimCard Slot wasn't aligned with the rest of the case: it was a little bit out (it's not like it's very noticeable, but you can clearly feel it with your hand). I was told by Apple that when you eject the SimCard slot the first time, a temporary piece of plastic should came out, and that wasn't my case (we thought that it was somewhere there inside, blocking my SimCard). So replacement has been made.

Now I have my new 3GS in front of me and it has the same problem.

I've attached few photos so you can see better...

Question: is it "by design"? Do you have this imperfection too? Should I replace it again?

Btw, is it true that a little piece of plastic should came out with the SimCard Slot the first time?

Im sorry, from looking at the pictures provided I dont see the problem at hand. Do you have any other photos of the issue, maybe a little more zoomed in?

Hi

You can see it in the first photo: the SimCard Slot it a little bit out, it's not perfectly aligned with the body.

It's my 2nd 3GS and it's the same (my old 3G was perfect), so I'm wondering whether it's a defect or just by design. In other words, can you feel your SimCard slot being a little bit out with your finger?

If looking from the from of my phone, on the left side of my sim tray, it is curved upwards. I had never noticed it until you mentioned it. I dont think its a big deal.

Seriously? You returned your phone because of that?

My sim card slot is not 100 percent flush. I don't know if it's supposed to be or not (and it's in a case anyway) but since it's not loose - not sticking up where it's noticeable - who cares?

Well, I was asking because my old 3GS was perfect in that area, and since 3GS design hasn't changed I was wondering why sim card slot isn't 100% perfect.

I've no idea what you mean by "perfect," but my SIM card slot is not flush, either. It seems to me that this is the way it was designed. Really, some people look too closely at their new iPhones. ;)

I had the same problem on my iPhone 3GS... this was just one more thing that annoyed me. My iPhone 3G sim card tray fits nicely and on the 3GS it stuck out so you could actually feel it if you ran your finger over it.

Apple's quality on the iPhone is a disaster. I've never had a problem with my original iPod touch's build quality or my original iPhone.

by little piece of plastic are you referring to the fake Sim card?

clear piece of plastic that's the same size of a Sim card?

Yep, I haven't seen it in neither 3GS I've received. But I guess it was there when I opened my 3GS the first time (though I'm not 100% sure, it was 1y ago). Is it still present on 3GS?

You got an iPhone 3GS a year ago?

Pardon, I was speaking about 3G.

So do everybody of you guys had a fake sim inside 3GS?
I don't, and I'm suspecting that it's still inside blocking my SimCard slot. :/

So guys, do you have the same problem (SimCard slot 2% out)? I'm not sure whether replace it or not. :(

As other have mentioned there's nothing wrong with your phone

(btw if you do have OCD, there's nothing wrong with that you should probably state that at the beginning)

Dias, this there is nothing wrong with your phone. Seriously. Everyone's is the same. If you get it replaced, your new one will be the same. You're obsessing over absolutely nothing.

Ok, thank for your feedbacks. I guess I'll take the way it is. :)

I just don't get how they managed to decrease the quality of the same product after 1y (3G/3GS). Should be the contrary.

OCD or not. If the phone works perfectly besides that fact that the slot sits .000065cm above the surrounding area I would probably keep the phone. Jobs-forbid you get one with a yellowish tint and the same problem. Your head might just pop right off.
