This problem occurs intermitently, as the phone sometimes turns off without a problem. I press and hold the sleep button, and slide to power off. I then get the swirly circle for a few seconds, then a blank screen for a few seconds, then the lockcode screen pops back up inviting me to type my lockcode in, and I can see the phone reconnecting to O2. I'm puzzled - why is the phone not switching off when I've slid to power off?

Thanks

Have you noticed whether this is more likely to occur if the phone is plugged into power (battery charging, etc.)? My 3GS does the same thing, too, if it is docked to something that can supply 5V USB power to it. It just can't seem to stay off if it is being supplied with power.

The phone is completely unplugged and not connected to anything. I know that an iPhone will switch on if you plug in a charger whilst it is switched off.
