Iphone 3gs unlocked when i jailbroke it

hello there,

decided to jailbreak my iphone last night. i brought it on pay as you go from o2 when it was first launched..

..so i went through all pwnage steps to jB and when i had to connect it to itunes a window popped up saying, "congratulations, your iphone has been unlocked"..

im not complaining, just want to know how this has happened and if anybody else has experienced the same thing.....

Let me know.. :D
