iPhone 3GS with 3.12

I have iPhone 3GS withos: 3.1.2, and modemfirmware 05.11.07. Using iTunes 9.0. When I use blackRa1n it seems to work but when I installed applications, like those free ones - Yelp, ABCNews, etc the icons on the iPhone do not show up but within itunes it shows the space being taken up? Anything else I can do or should I restore back to normal/ Original? When trying to restore to original it fails even when obtaining the original firmware from Apple download.

It works now after I installed Yelp from itunes in the iPhone itself. Now there is a lot of space in between and icons that look generic with a 5-1 and a hide me.. I tried it but it did not hide the icons. Advise?

That's totally weird. Almost as if they install "hidden" as a default.

If they are hidden, there are several different utilities to un-hide them (my favorite is SBSettings). Google "iphone restore hidden icons" and you'll get a lot of hits. Here's a good link:
