Lock Screen Notifications.
Really, come on - this is incredibly useful! Upcoming Calendar appointments, new email notification, as well as missed call and SMS.
I use my iPhone to store my Uni timetable, and it'd be such a time saver to just look at the lock screen to see where a class is etc.

I want a way to project the iphone screen into my pupils. Therefore eliminating the need to carry around the iPhone.

Well judging from your name, and your suggestion of cards 'like the palm pre' then what you actually want is Apple to copy the pre, is that right?
Doesn't sound like progress to me. The Pre looks a nice device but until people actually start using it for real, nobody knows what faults it'll have (and it will have faults as every other device does).
Ever heard of a discussion? Or is your brain too small to realise that we're going to be talking about additions that Apple didn't include in the iPhone 3.0 update that we still want.
The only thing really left on my wish list for the iPhone is a decent notification system. This is something BB can gloat about, it really just sucks on the iPhone. And I don't mean the Push Notifications, I want something a la the jailbreak app Notifier- email, MMS, SMS, Voicemail icons in the status bar that can be seen at all times. Also, I'd love it if there was some sort of notification aggregator screen, maybe the lock screen.
a feature like copy/paste doesn't hinder progress, it creates innovation by allowing us to think outside the box. I got by with out copy/paste, so did tons of other users.
People just depend too much on a feature that when it goes missing, they go:
OMG?! 1S TEH FE4TUR3 M!SS1NG??!?!?!!!!11111!!!122!!! WTF?! BBQ!! blah blah blah...
I don't mind people having a 4.0 wish list, it is just too soon to start asking for one, when we got 3.0 detailed out for us, can't we enjoy?
according to one user who has 3.0 beta installed, there are a lot of changes that weren't discussed today ... so some of the smaller things mentioned here could very well be possible in 3.0

True. Plus it is a summer release, this was only a "preview" after all, so they might be working on a few other bits and bobs to "wow" us. I hope so!

4)Option to attach images, file etc from email app itself.

6)Manual rotate gesture option
7)Notes app should be more powerful word process (fonts, text size etc)
8)All Grouping of contacts for test message e.g. friend and family groups.
9)App for grouping key social networking sites(for posting universal photos, text to all social networking sites together.
10) Auto spell check in safari browser (like mozilla) when adding text in twitter, facebook leaving comments at blog etc.
11)Build in Flash in camera for night photo shot
12) Front facing camera for video Chat
13) Use cover flow for using multitasking third party apps (limit to 5 apps, not to drain the battery life)
14)Thin quick time player app to run video downloaded from web.
15)Group notification alert or not attended tasks(missed MMS, SMS, PHONE, Chat message, meeting, event etc)on single screen.
