OK. I purchased an iPhone 4 off of ebay. I opened up the phone brand new out of the box and connected it to itunes. Now I am stuck cause itunes is asking for the social security number if the previous owner who sold it to me and for his zip code. The seller will not provide me with this information and now I am stuck with an iphone on the "connect to itunes screen". Also there is no option to restore the phone of any sort. Help is greatly appreciated :)

Open a claim and return the phone. That's what most others have been doing.

Would a new sim card fix this problem? Did you call AT&T to see if they can disassociate the phone with the previous owner?

A new sim won't fix this as new iPhone 4s can only be activated by using the last 4 and zip of the person who originally bought it. Used iPhone 4s shouldn't have this problem. I don't think AT&T will help since this is what this is designed to avoid, people buying and then selling a brand new phone before it's activated.
