I've never put anything on here before so forgive me for being an idiot.

I have an iPhone 4 and wondering if I should download iOS5. I don't have Lion on my MacBook Pro as I am still using Snow Leopard. I don't really want all the wireless stuff that goes on with the cloud yet as I am happy just using mobile me to sync my contacts and my calenders. I guess when the time comes when I have to switch I might, I just don't want to yet.

Am I able to download iOS5 but not have to have all the cloud stuff and carry on with just what mobile me does? Do I have to have Lion on my MacBook Pro?

Also, do I have to use iMessage? Will an iMessage message be in the same place as texts that I have sent or will they turn up in a different conversation thread. I really don't see the point if they do because I have unlimited texts and I like to keep everything together.

Hope someone can help.

You can download the iOS5 file using iTunes and you don't need OS Lion or iTunes latest version to do it.
Once your phone is backed up and the software is downloaded, your iPhone will talk you through the process and although you have the option to use all the iClouod "goodies", you don't have to.
iMessages should just carry right on in the same message thread as before, but this is dependent on how OTHER people set their phones up after installing iOS5....not how youo set yours up.
I've not use MobileMe before so I can't comment on that I'm afraid.

Latest version of iTunes support Music in The Cloud, otherwise it's the same.

At some though, you may have to upgrade to keep up.
