hi
Bought an iphone 4 a few days back, when ive got it back home itunes detects the phone but detects it in recovery mode

when i try to restore via itunes it just gives me the 1600 error, nothing comes on the phone screen its completely dead.

when putting it onto redsn0w it shows the phone is in soft dfu mode.

after messing around i got it into normal dfu mode , after pressing every button on tinyumrella and redsn0w , it simply goes to the waiting for phone to reboot screen and stays on this forever.

I have downloaded 6.2 6.1 and 5.1 tried to load them and i get the 1600 error. or the waiting to reboot screen.

I dont know if someone has tried jailbreaking and bricked the phone but thats my guess!

what can i try next? i read online i could bridge 2 chips and it may make the phone boot up but i dont know what to try next!!

please help thanks!

You need valid blobs/SHSH's to install any non-signed firmware like 6.1.2

The latest firmware signed is 6.1.3
You can try exit recovery on either TinyUmbrella or redsn0w if that doesn't work connect it to itunes and hit restore.

It should restore to 6.1.3

Alternatively get the blobs for 6.1.3 with TinyUmbrella
Now use sn0wbreeze(win) to restore to 6.1.3

----------

Also make sure your own host file is pointing to Apple not to Cydia

On your mac/pc type gs.apple.com in your broser, it should take you to an Apple placeholder site.

If it takes you to cydia fix you host file

hi , blobs ? sorry i dont really understand

To make things simpler, you can only restore to iOS 6.1.3

Edit: if you're able to get the phone into normal DFU mode, go into iTunes and click restore and it should fix the phone and allow you to use it (assuming it isn't a hardware problem)

Just click restore in itunes. Don't manually select firmware versions. If it doesnt restore you might have a hardware problem.

You can only restore to 6.1.3

as i said originally, if i restore via itunes i get the 1600 error?

Is the iPhone in normal DFU mode when you get this error while restoring via iTunes?

If you type gs.apple.com in your browser address bar, where does it lead you?

hi, according to redsn0w its in pwned dfu mode , but i did get it into normal dfu mode when i tried and still the same.

and i get this:
Index of /

[ICO] Name Last modified Size Description
[DIR] TSS/ 14-Sep-2009 23:45 -
Apache/2.2.11 (Debian) DAV/2 SVN/1.5.1 mod_python/3.3.1 Python/2.5.2 mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8g mod_transform/0.6.0 Server at gs.apple.com Port 80

If your host file is correctly pointing to Apple, this is what you will see when you execute gs.apple.com in your computer browser

To get into DFU:
Connect USB
Hold home and power together until phone turns off

Keep holding both for amother 7 seconds
Now rekease power while still holding home for 10 seconds

The phone will be in DFU with a blackscreen and itunes reporting a phone in recovery(which it is not)

hi , yes ive managed to get into normal dfu mode but cannot restore the thing , any more ideas ?

Have you tried another computer? Different USB port? 160x Errors are USB related. Period.

tried it on 3 pcs now with 5 usb cables i dont tihnk thats the case i think the firmware is messed up, its going out the window soon

get a fresh download from iclarified:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750

----------

Download the 6.1.3 IPSW, make sure you choose the right 1, GSM or CDMA

----------

Put it in DFU

connect to itunes and hit ALT-restore(mac) or SHIFT-restore(Win) to restore the downloaded IPSW

Also on a windows machine restart the pc to get the host file correct after you changed it.

You have the latest itunes?
