I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.5, and a MacBook with iTunes 10.5.2 running on Mac OS X 10.6.8. I believe I have enough free space on my Mac and iPhone, but every time I try to upgrade my iPhone to iOS 5, it stops progressing on the "Backing up" section about 5% in. The iPhone screen shows the Apple boot logo with the circular spinning icon. I should add that my phone has never been jailbroken. Any thoughts? Thanks!

So is your phone bricked now? If so, you pretty much have to do a Restore.

But if not, can you do a regular sync and back up normally? If you can, why not do that first and then do the upgrade without backing up. If you can't, then I don't think the problem is even related to the upgrade.
