Iphone got a little wet. Not submerged. But water was leaking out of the sim port and the 32 pin charging port was all damp so likely a little got into the speaker ports as well.
Once it got wet, the phone's screen shut off, but the flash came on and stayed on. Got home, submerged it in rice for 36 hours and plugged it back in. Flash came on immediately, again and stayed on. I couldn't power phone off or reset it as power button and home button don't seem to be responding any more. Also when plugged in, screen comes on showing it is charging. After about 5 hours, it appears battery is still empty cause it shows the battery logo with thin red line. Tried power button alone, power button and home button for long press and short press. Nothing much happens. It tries to boot (with apple logo showing) but it fails to reach the passcode "swipe to unlock" screen. And once again, the flash is always on? And I cannot power it off or reset it. I do not have a screw driver small enough to open it up. It's back in a bag of rice. It's now been 72 hours since the initial incident. Again, some water got in, but not tons. I feel that since others have been able to salvage the phone after completely dunking in a toilet for example, I don't see why I can't get this phone to work.
Please see the error message and let me know if you have any ideas/suggestions. No warranty. Phone is 3.5 years old. This error message appears intermitently when it is trying to boot.
Iphone 4 running on IOS 6.
