So I have this Iphone 4 GSM 6.1.2 which I want to Jailbreak. I have tried Sn0wbreeze, but after I try to use the custom IPSW on Itunes, I get error 3194. What should I do? I have the latest Itunes version, if that matters.

You cannot use custom IPSWs with iTunes 11. You must downgrade iTunes to 10.7 to be able to restore to a custom IPSW.

I downgraded to 10.7, but I still get the same 3194 error.

I believe 11.0.5 is still okay for custom restores

Did you stitch the SHSH blobs into the ipsw? Is your hosts file pointing to cydia or apple's servers?

Since the placeholder site points to apple site I think my host files are okay. I don't know about SHSH, I just ran nevest Sn0wbreeze version and followed instructions. And the baseband is 04.12.05 if that matters.

EDIT: Okay, I used tiny umbrella to put up a TSS server. That helped me past error 3194, but now I get error 1600 instead.
EDIT2: Not sure if I changed something, keep getting error 11 now.

Anyone got any suggestions?

EDIT: got my iphone tethered jailbroken with redsn0w. When booting it gives me pineapple logo, but i can't find cydia anywhere. Any experiences?

Without complete and valid SHSH blobs, you can't restore/downgrade to 6.1.2

You could've just used evasi0n to jailbreak 6.1.2 if you didn't need to restore to it

Yeah, just used that and it's now working. The main purpose I jailbroke is to unlock my iphone. It's BB 4.12.05. How to do that?
EDIT: Tried SAM method, but my phone restarted and it now asks me to activate, now what? :S

there is no software unlock for that BB

your only option is most likely an grey market IMEI unlock, unlock from the carrier the phone is locked to, or a sim interposer (which i don't know if it works with that BB)

So what is it so special with those BB:s that they cannot be hacked? And how are those IMEI unlockers able to do it?

there hasn't been a software unlock for around 3 years, if not longer, now. only the original BB on the iphone 4 GSM can be software unlocked

my best guess is that these IMEI unlockers know someone that works inside the company that has access to entering IMEI numbers onto a whitelist to unlock the phone

Find out how hard or easy it is to unlock those bb and let us know.
Or get a job working for the carrier your phone is locked to and unlock it yourself for free.

I didn't mean it bad way, just curious as an engineering student.

The days of software unlocks are long gone. Your option is to see if the selling carrier will unlock it or pay an aftermarket vendor to whitlelist it in Apple's unlock server.

Had you done any reading/research, you could have saved yourself the issue of an unnecessary restore and jailbreak which is very mush different than an unlock.
