if you have the SHSH blobs for 5.1.1, i would stay restore to that firmware as it's going to be more responsive than iOS 7.1.1 (unless you really need to use certain apps that are post iOS 5)

if you have the SHSH blobs for 5.1.1, then there's no harm in restoring to 7.1.1, give it a try and see if you like it

I have an iPhone 4, just for fun i've updated to 7.1.1 and i'm very disappointed. It slows a lot the phone, it's still usable though, but for every day use i think iOS 5.1.1 is still better. I'd stick to that if i were you... But if you have your SHSH, feel free to try it yourself, and than decide if keep the new or going back! :)
