hello there,

I have a JB iphone 4 with ios 5.1.1 on it. my modem fw is 04.10.01

its a GSM, AT&T phone..currently unlocked.

it has been running very slow also I just started to have shrinking problem etc..

it works really fast on Safe Mode so I been thinking of removing the Jailbreak.

the only reason I JB it because of MyWI tethering app. I am on the go most of times and I need to tether the internet to my ipad or macbook.

Since now it can be tethered using Personal Hotspot, so I don't even need myWI anymore.

however, it will be nice to have an IOS that can be Jailbroken if needed.

I don't know how I can remove the JB properly. Do I need to preserve modem fw ?

how can I remove JB ? or upgrade to a 5.xx or 6.1.2

thanks.

open cydia and press TSS center. Does it show 5.1.1 blobs? 6.1.2 blobs? (most likely, you won't have complete 6.1.2 blobs). Those blobs determine which iOS version you can restore to. If you don't have them, you can dump your 5.1.1 blobs using ifaith

to remove a jailbreak, you must restore. You do not need to preserve baseband if your phone is carrier unlocked

i'd recommend using sn0wbreeze or iFaith (windows only programs). If you only have a mac, you can also use redsn0w

1. download ifaith and connect your device
if you have 5.1.1 blobs on cydia's server, skip step 2
2. click dump shsh blobs and follow the steps to enter DFU mode
3. click show available SHSH caches on server and use the connected device
4. click show list of availiable shsh blobs on tss server
5. download your 5.1.1 blobs
6. go back to the main menu and click build signed ipsw with blobs
7. browse for the shsh blob you just downloaded
8. click the download for me option
9. proceed with the steps to make the custom firmware
10. make sure itunes is version 11.0.5 or under or else this will not work
11. go back to the main menu and click use dfu pwner
12. follow the steps and you'll enter pwned dfu mode
13. open itunes and shift + click restore and select the custom ipsw ifaith made for you
14. after the restore is done, you'll have a clean unjailbroken iOS 5.1.1 iphone 4
