I am trying to recover my iPhone 4, but when I recover it, it gives me the error that I cannot do it (because of the jailbreak).

How do I do a factory restore from a Jailbroken phone?

I don't get an error.
Here's where I am at. I have an iPhone with nothing on it. If I jailbreak it through redsnow, I get it to boot, and go through the initial setup, but with no Cydia, and I can't use the built in Mail app, then if I try 'Just Boot' from Redsnow I get a missing shsh message.
If I restore through iTunes, I get a message that the cannot activate my iPhone and to contact customer service.

Thread title says you need to "unjailbreak" (Your word)

So what do you really want to do so we can try and assist you (because your comments are in conflict with the thread title)

My iPhone was jailbroken. I was having crash issues. I wanted to factory restore. iTunes will not factory restore. This made me have an iPhone that was doing nothing. I tried to jailbreak it again, I made it further than I did with iTunes, but Cydia will not install.
What I want: iPhone with Factory Defaults.

Why not just restore it to 6.0.1 ?
Choose set up as new, do not restore to backup.

Make sure host file points to Apple, not Cydia (type gs.apple.com and make sure you go to an Apple placeholder page)

Reboot the phone and computer before you try it.
Try a different USB port and cable if necessary.

And if none of that works, a different computer usually does the trick.

When I restore through iTunes, it goes all the way to the last step, then says We Cannot Activate Your iPhone. I have tried it on 3 computers, and got the same error on all 3.

You have to have a sim in the phone from the carrier who sold the phone.
If unlocked, any sim will do.

You have an activation issue, nothing to do with a restore issue.

If you don't have a sim from carrier, try eBay or Craigslist (if available)

Ugh. I'm such a noob. I dunno if it's the way I restored it, or putting in the SIM card, but it appears to be working.
Mucho Gracias.

If you are bricked and cant do anything with your iDevice, and its stuck on the " Connect iDevice to iTunes " Just go to http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ download windows or Mac.. and then run the program > exit out of recovery... Then put it into DFU mode adn try restoring...

Did you actually read the thread ?

Thread starter had an activation issue, putting a sim in the phone activated the phone.
