Atleast im not the only one!

Ive tried doing it again, and again... i may just wait till later and do it again...

If anyone wants to know, mines a white 16gb iPhone 4, running iOS 4.5.3 and is factory unlocked.

I think it is just load on the servers etc plenty of people with the same problem.

Don't know if Apple can really do much as it's a very temporary crush of peopke

Edit: Try rebooting both phone & iTunes - seems to have worked for me as in progress now!

I got an error backing up as well, and it gave me a warning that continuing would delete all the contents of my iphone. I went ahead and hit Continue and then it tried to restore. The first time this happened, the restore failed (error 3200), but when I tried it again, it worked.

After the restore, I'm now running iOS 5.

I downloaded the upgrade, then went to upgrade the phone....so not sure if its a connectivity issue (should all be local to my machine right???)....but I am having the same problems....going on 5 times now....hate backing up the dang phone...takes forever since it has 27 gig or so worth of content...what a PITA

You do have to be online to finish the install. Between backup and "restore" (where it uploads the new firmware) it must talk to the Apple update servers even if you pre-downloaded the firmware.

I had THAT problem too earlier when I tried to update from my laptop disconnected from the WiFi.

I've got the same thing. Between the back-up and the installation of the new iOS, it says "communicating with Apple" then an "internal error occurred". I need my iPhone for work, so the iPad is the guinea pig. I've downloaded the OSX updates, restarted the iMac twice, restarted the devices and apps to no avail. I figure it more on their end with the server load. Will keep trying.

A buddy of mine at work had a problem updating his iPhone4 to iOS5. He resolved the issue by restarting his phone. The update was successful after the phone restart.

exactly what I've encountered. Rest assured when you have done a proper backup of your iPhone, you would be able to restore back your apps, music, videos.

I have the same ERROR ! but after 20 tries I unplugged my phone from iTunes and now my Phone won;t even start (re-boot) anymore.

I get the Apple Logo (start up) and the rotation "busy" circle but nothing else is happening, I have no phone anymore... WTF ?!?!?!

I can't even reset my iPhone... this is bit annoying

any ideas what to do ?
