Curious when this will be out? I really wanted to take my new iPhone 4 to Europe on a trip soon but unless it's unlocked I won't be able to use it there :(

no one knows when it will be out and please search as this has been asked numerous times before

The word is that Apple may have found a way to lock this down permanently via iTunes 9.2.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the dev team can work their magic.

curious to know if you did a search before starting yet another thread like this.

short answer is no one knows!
be patient
all good things come to those that are, maybe in time for your trip!

I've given up on people using the search but really? There's already like 4 posts on the front page on this.. They need to make the new thread button harder to find.

It's even more amusing when there's 3-4 posts stacked one on top of another asking the EXACT same question. They should sticky latins thread with the flow chart.

haha, this made me laugh. Definitely hide that new thread button!

Confirmation dialog when posting a new thread asking if the question has been asked before. If it has and you post anyway, a boxing glove flies out of your screen and punches you in the face. :D That may work!

God I wish..

http://modmyi.com/forums/iphone-new...-baseband-os-ultrasn0w-will-need-rewrite.html
The DevTeam and others have been checking through the iPhone 4, and have noticed the baseband runs a completely different OS than on previous models. The iPhone 3G and 3G both ran Nucleus OS on the PMB8878 baseband CPU (aka XGold 608), where the iPhone 2G ran the PMB8876 (aka S-Gold 2). iPhone 4 uses the PMB9800, or X-Gold 618 - running a separate OS - ThreadX, an RTOS by ExpressLogic.

What's all that mean to you?

Basically, once the iPhone 4 is jailbroken, the unlock won't be an immediate release. iOS4 is already un-lockable using ultrasn0w 0.93 on the earlier iPhone models, but the payload will need to be rewritten for iPhone 4 once an exploit is discovered in the new baseband OS. Hopefully the port itself will have introduced some. No way to estimate any sort of timeline until further investigating is done.

Not too bad of news for those like me just looking for a jailbreak, but at least you know they are looking into it.
