When I ordered my iphone from apple which is on a family plan I was asked to put in a number to check upgrade eligibility. When I get the phone delivered to my house and plug it into itunes, is it automatically going to set up my iphone to the number i used to get the discounted price or is it going to ask me to enter the number I want to use, and have been using with my iphone now? (there are multiple iphones on my account)

Here's how it should work

The SIM + IMEI of the device should be associated to your line/account.. when the device fires up the SIM will be provisioned with your account information by the network.

Note that it will assume the number that you used for the upgrade, and whatever phone that had that number before will have it's sim rejected within minutes and not be able to make calls/text/etc.
