Hi all,

I've today received a faulty Iphone 4-32GB that I bought off Ebay with the intentions of repairing it. Although I think it may be beyond me - I think I have explored every avenue of repair to no avail.

I'm not entirely sure what the previous owner has done to it, and even though it is proving difficult to fix, I'm still not convinced it is entirely bricked (yet).

Let me start from the beginning...

The phone was sold with the fault of being stuck in recovery mode and producing error 2 (at about 75%) when using the conventional method of restore. I have been able to replicate this.
I have since used numerous tools and utilities including redsn0w, tinyumbrella and sn0wbreeze to restore/repair the phone but still having no luck.

When attempt to JB through redsn0w and selecting "iPhone3,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw", I get the error "exploit failed". When I attempt to fix recovery, I get "Missing Keys.plist.data for this build"

Does anybody else have any other suggestions? As the phone is recognised by the computer and responsive, I believe this can be fixed. Also I don't know what IOS version the previous owner was running, is this a problem? Is there any way I can find out?

Many thanks in advance :)

Basically you cant restore the iPhone to ios 6 anymore its not being signed thats one. Two, what i would have done is either let itunes restore it for me or download the iOS 7 ipsw myself and restore to iOS 7. Now if you want iOS 6 youl have to pray that the guy or person has his SHSH blobs saved.

I've searched for saved SHSH blobs but TU cannot find any. Does that mean it wasn't JB, or does that mean it could have been JB but the previous owner didn't backup the blobs? Do the blobs backup to a cloud essentially?

I'm not overly bothered about using <IOS 7 (JB'ing it) as long as I can find a way to unlock to all networks later.

About to try using snowbreeze which I found someone suggested on another post, I'll keep you updated

If TU did not find any blobs you are SOL and iOS 7 is your only option.

Put it in DFU and restore to iOS7.

You'll need to find out to which carrier it was locked.
IMEI unlocks have become more difficult lately but still possible although prices have gone up.

I've tried restoring to iOS 7 through Itunes a couple of times to no avail (gets error 2 at about 80% of the restore). Trying it with an imported IPSW now, not sure what difference that will make, I doubt any.

Yep, failed

Ok I got it working but it's linked to someone elses apple ID. I hope it's the guy I bought it off.

I am having this exact same problem. I don't suppose you could do into detail about how you overcame the error 2? I would be very appreciative for any information anyone has. Thanks.
