Iphone 4s camera problem

I just got an iphone 4s and when im in the house or low light places my front camera have a red effect, i mean the screen turn red, all its red...but if i shake a little the phone, it come to normal. If i turn on the front camera when im outside, it doesnt have any problem, its perfect. It has ios 8.1.3 and i dont want to update because it runs perfect, no lag, no glitchs. Can someone help me with the camera problem? And i want to know if for an 3-4 years old iphone 4s, 5-6 hours of battery (with medium-heavy use) is good or i need to change it. Thanks.

That sounds more like a hardware problem. It especially sounds to me as though it could be a loose connection of some sort due to the fact that if you shake it, it resets. It could also be the lens' of the front camera gets stuck, though I doubt that would turn the screen red. I'd say that it could be either the ambient light sensor is faulty, or more likely, the front facing camera that is faulty.

Does the screen brightness change if you cover up the sensors at the top of your phone? The only thing is, is that I wouldn't have thought the camera would output a red screen if the ambient light sensor only picks up darkness. Your best bet is to take it to someone who can repair it, but unless you plan on using the front camera a lot, I would be tempted to just leave it. For the age of the phone, the cost to repair it probably won't be worth it.

Ok, just saw your photos that you added to your original post. The fact that it is a tiny to me suggests that it's the camera and not the light sensor.
I know it's different, but I've known iPad screens that have a red tint after being dropped, and shaking it fixes it. The problem was always that the screen cable became dislodged inside. This is what leads me to believe that the front camera connection just needs refitting. You might find that it is still happening with outdoor photos, but due to natural sunlight, it isn't visibly picking it up.

If it doesn't fix it then you may need to replace the camera. However, the main problem here is that we are still not 100% sure what is causing the problem, so it is not guaranteed to fix the problem. Thats why taking it to a shop that can repair it for a price might be more beneficial if you are willing to pay more.

As for the battery life, for its age, and with medium-heavy usage, that sounds about right. You can't expect too much from a 4 year old second hand smartphone.

Ill go to a service to ask how much it cost to repair the camera. Before this iphone, i had a samsung galaxy s1 and each year the galaxy's battery swelled and at full charge last almost 10 minutes. I want to know if the swelling battery can be found in the iphone too.

Any battery has the potential to swell. However, it is a rare thing in iPhones as far as I know. If you haven't noticed any visible distortions to the iPhone case then I doubt that you have a swollen battery.

I just spoke with the owner and he said that the camera problem its from the day he bought the phone, that happened 4 years ago. Now im very sure i need to replace the front camera. What do you think?
