just hit restore in itunes, no need to remove it, you can't go back though and will have to wait for a iOS7 JB if you want that, could take months
Why bother with JB? My daughter upgraded a few months back and gave me her old iPhone 4?. I searched eBay and found " resellers" of factory unlocks.It cost me about £10 ... whats more went into Vodafone and said I needed a micro sim for my existing PAYG number..and that I had paid to unlock it from Optus....the very helpful assistant hooked it up, sorted the sim transfer, gave it me back and said..its unlocked, updated and ready to go...cost..free!
You confuse jailbreak and unlock...
These days jailbreaking is rarely used to unlock.
The main reason is better user experience and freedom to tweak the phone the way you liked it!

Besides that an iP4 on the 1.59.00BB can be update anyway, also possible on the right sim interposer unlock

Believe me: do not upgrade and lose your jailbreak. It is not worth it. Pastel colors - whoppee. Sliding/zoom animations - ditto. Losing the ability to change themes, delete stock apps, add new functionality that Apple refuses to grant to the masses - priceless with a jailbreak.
Wait until iOS7 is jailbroken, then upgrade.
Or don't bother listening to the voice of experience. After all, it is your phone.
Perhaps you should consider that the "voice" of your "experience" may not be universally applicable. Different people have different needs and desires. I dare say I have at least as much experience as you, but I have not regretted the upgrade at all so far. I miss infinidock an a couple of other tweaks, but the improvements in other functionality and new features have so far amply compensated for any loss.
Personally I find that control panel, improved multitasking, vastly improved Safari experience, iTunes Radio, greatly improved and more functional Siri, improved folders, less-intrusive but more accessible Spotlight Search, and improved lock screen audio controls all make for a more pleasant and efficient user experience. Incidentally, they solve many of the issues for which I have most required a jailbreak.
Don't get me wrong, I will still jailbreak when one becomes available. But I'm not regretting my move to iOS 7, and to assume everyone will is completely unjustified.
