I have an iPhone 4s and I updated it to 9.3.1. I've been taking about 20-25 minutes of straight video recording and it begins to say it's overheated (very hot to the touch) and then shuts down to cool. Is this normal?

not normal time to restore iphone or get new iphone
It's not my main phone, fortunately. I just bought it from a co-worker. I started using it as a dash cam, which I run continuous video for 25-30 minutes, but then it overheats and shuts down to cool. I know it's not a true video cam, however, it is made to take videos. Could it be the battery or maybe it just can't handle it?
