iPhone 5 bad battery since iOS 8

Since I upgraded my phone to iOS 8, my battery time has significantly decreased. Even in stand by, I can only have my phone turned on for a couple of hours, and if I use it I would say that the battery is dead within an hours. Is this software or hardware related? Would a replacement battery fix this you think?
 
Restore from back up for starters. If you still have issues restore as new. And there's always the DFU restore before thinking of replacing your battery.
