Hi all,

Hoping someone could help with my email issue.

Since Saturday, my email will not update.

Strangely, I can still send emails, just not receive.

It still works on my ipad though.

My mail is yahoo (uk) and I've tried deleting and re entering the account, plus resetting the phone. My telco provider is Telstra (Australia) if that makes any difference.

My iPhone and iPad settings are the same, so I'm a bit confused by this.

I've updated to iOS 8, but this happened before the update.

Any help appreciated
 
This can happen if you recently changed your password. Or could be a Yahoo glitch.
I suggest you download the Yahoo mail app and see how that works.
 
Use gmail lol, jk. I dont like how to check your mail on gmail you have to click all mail. But download the app or delete the account on the phone and then retype your password.
 
Already tried deleting and re entering account details about a thousand times.

Haven't changed password either.

Have downloaded the yahoo app, as a last resort, but just want the iOS email to work.

Jeez, it's frustrating :mad:

If it's a yahoo glitch, why would it still work on my iPad?
 
Go to your mail. Create a new folder. Move a dozen or so emails fm your inbox into the new folder. Refresh your phone. Check for mail.
 
Not sure about the 2 step verification thing. My email just stopped updating for no apparent reason and without me fiddling with any settings

Never had any issues before this and could merrily check emails from either my iPad or iPhone using the iOS mail

After resetting the account there are no emails in the inbox but the folders are there.

So, do you get "cannot connect to server" or is stuck on "checking" ending up with "updated last whenever"? Or probably in your case "update failed".
You said you didn't fiddle with the password. Well, now would be a good time to do it.
Change your password and see if that helps.
Finally, try a different account, outlook, gmail -not recommended, to make sure the problem is not with the iOS/phone.

Thanks for all the help and advice.

Today, my email started working again! Haven't done anything to the settings. I'd actually given up with it a couple of days ago, but today, it just started working again.

Does that point towards a yahoo issue, rather than my phone?
 
Let's just say that most of the cases I've come across had to do with Yahoo accounts.
Glad your mail is working again.
 
My gmail did exactly this when I enabled two step authentication. Switched it off and it was ok afterwards!
