iPhone 5 home button

Was wondering if anyone has ever had this my wife's iphone 5 home button was no working all the time so I changed the home button and cable still doing same thing made sure both contacts on cable are clean and the prongs on bottom half of phone if I get it working it will work great for a while then it will at Radom quit again. It seems that if you hold it until Siri pops up then it will start back working. Then at some random point after being asleep it will quit again. I have clean the outside part with alcohol, done a calibration, updated the to 8.1.3, and reset holding home and power. It almost seems software related because if you get it going it works fine
