Lots of hackers are working on it.
It is generally agreed it will take months

Best chance of updates is to follow the top tier of hackers on Twitter.

They don't give ETA's, so that must be 3rd party speculation.

To paraphrase them, They dont know when it will be released, but when they start to release video's, its not that far off.

Also that is inaccurate, @Chpwn released a pics and a vid right after release of the IP5.

His jailbreak is a failbreak, not for public release because it needs a dev account, releasing it means breaking copyright with Apple.

Some tweets have come out since, last by @planetbeing that the failbreak is dev account only, no further annoucements have been made.

The lead devs said months, the iPad2 took 6 months +, so no timeline, just patiences.

Just keep folowing the usual suspects, if they have something useful to say you see it soon enough.

I am paraphrasing them from this speech http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/utm_...19/watch-hitb-ios-discussion/&medium=26063157

I cant remember or find any video chpwn released about the iPhone 5, and i do remember the pictures and screenshots. It does not however not go against the first quote/paraphrasing as it is a rule of thumb that the dev team want people to follow.

And releasing an ETA is stupid, as it is very much a game of chance.

Being fairly new to iPhone this may just be BS but if it was me I would not release a jailbreak until after 6.0.1. The reason is the update wil fix a number of iOS issues. If they release it before that Apple will patch it and then we would have to wait for a new jailbreak. This way they can keep the exploit under their hat until the update. Then test and see if it still works.

I agree.

But 6.0.1 is around the corner. In fact, I'm anticipating it with the iPad mini when they ship.

With rumors of 6.1 coming in a few months, you can bet they'll just wait for that. No point coding to a 6.0.1 release when a 6.1 should remain in place far longer.

Yea I know. This waiting game is annoying. Wish an anonymous group of hackers would assemble a jailbreak and release it with or without apple code. Cant sue what you can't see.

This is kind of reckless thinking that will put an end to jailbreaking quicker than anything else.

If there was an permanent end to jailbreaking, I think I would buy a back to basics phone.

Lekki refurbs and revamps Nokia 3210. That would do if I did not have the fun and community around jailbreaking :p

The only thing I really miss from my jailbroken 4 is Activator and SBSettings. Must say the quicker load of my camera is welcomed. I could never get my camera to load quickly nor have the video record smoothly without freezing or sometimes not save.
