iPhone iPhone 5, JB on 6.0.1 - can I unlock via iTunes?

Hey dudes,

I have an iPhone 5, JB on 6.0.1.

I recently moved overseas and want to do an unlock, which has been approved by my carrier.

So I need to do this via iTunes, but I'm betting it will force iOS7 onto me, and of course, wipe the JB.

My question is, once I unlock the hardware, can I use iTunes to restore to my backup of iOS 6.0.1, and then re-do the JB? Will iTunes reject the restore to iOS 6x or does it need to be "signed"?

I f you simply just want to activate the unlock that have been authorised by your carrier, iTunes wont force you to upgrade to iOS 7. But I could be wrong, not really 100% certain.

Download SAM from Cydia, use it to deactivate the phone
Put in your foreign or official sim
Connect the phone to iTunes
It will activate and the unlock will attach, no restore is necessary

SAM from Cydia works on 6.0.1 and you can deactivate and reactivate the phone to unlock it.

And this will use the carrier's authorization via Apple? Not just circumvent the system altogether?

Just don't want to go troubleshooting for days since I have a legit, approved unlock request!

Yes the unlock and activation will go directly through apple servers. you are only using SAM to deactivate the device. reactivate with iTunes and it should give you the "Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked" screen.
