I keep seeing user experiences for the 5S, 6 and 6+ but never specifically the 5 for some reason. Who's trying the public beta on an iPhone 5 and how does it do?

I just downloaded it an hour or so ago and so far I really like it especially the new keyboard with lower case letters and the typing is auto correcting is much faster than the keyboard in 8.4. I also like the new font and love the news app. I may finally be able to get rid of flipboard.

I'm still on the fence. If the rating so far is "tolerable" I may go for it, or just wait a few weeks for the next beta

Do you mind sharing why you want to "get rid of Flipboard"?

I've been using flipboard for years and it started out as a great app but they gather a lot of information about you and what your reading. More and more they are requiring more info from you it use to be a free app when I first got it on my iPhone 5 then after an update they required you to open an account and give them your email etc there becoming like Google. I'd much rather have a news app run by apple for Apple users, since Apple is much more concerned about your privacy.

In addition, I've been using the new news app in iOS 9 now for a couple hours and it works just as good as flipboard and the layout is nice it refreshes the new news that's happened right away scrolling it right to the top when you open the For You tab. So why have 2 apps that work the same?

I see. Anyway, giving my email address and knowing what I read is not really an issue for me.

It's not very good so far. Actually newer betas might be getting slower. Searching takes forever and animations are choppy (like 7 was on iPhone 4) unless you Reduce transparency. Not good yet.

That's weird, I just did a restore of beta 3 then updated to beta 4 through OTA and it's working great. A little stutter here and there but other than that, it's running great.

It's always subjective. What's "just fine" for one person is "unusable" for other. Perceptions vary. But whereas I rarely saw a stutter before, it's very noticeable in 9 betas. Also, reducing transparency helps, which is telling.

Spotlight search taking forever is probably due to deep in-app search that is new to iOS 9 (meaning iOS can search inside apps' own documents). That's a rather taxing task and iPhone 5 just suffers.
