l tried itunes method, but it says 'Itunes could not connect to this iphone. The value is missing' l think it might be because it has a 'dead' non retrievable icloud account? cut to chase, the icloud account's email etc are no longer available. On the youtube l saw that there is a method by downloading a software , 3utool,
and it seems ideal. has anyone heard of this software? will it erase all my important data my 5s? it makes no mention of downloading to mac computers only pcs. please comment.cheers

Apple can unlock it, if you can convince Apple that you own the iPhone.
l remembered bringing the receipt to them, but they said it had no stamp, and it was all handwritten, even though it does match the time and place of purchase. l got told by someone, later that if you have the original box,it will be as good as a receipt, and they can also reset the icloud and definitely unlock / undisable the phone from too many pw attempts right?

I am not the one you have to convince. If Apple doesn't accept it, there's not much you can do.
The original box isn't likely to affect that (it shows nothing about who owns the iPhone), but again, opinions don't matter much here. You have to show something that will convince Apple.
(It will also help if you know the answers to the iCloud security questions for that AppleID account... )
If the AppleID account is unknown to you, then... there you go.

And, you were basically told the same thing on another forum you posted this to. Someone who makes many attempts at a password to unlock a phone certainly is suspicious and that's why Apple locks the phone. If you can't prove to Apple's satisfaction that the phone is yours, then, you're out of luck.

3 quick questions:

is it actually your phone?
Is it tied to your Apple ID?
Have you forgotten your own password?

'Cause this topic smells like a "no" to all of the above.

its 100% my phone, the shop that l bought it from in 2012(?) said that they can give me a new stamped and printed receipt at 25HKD. Spoke to Apple store assistant, he said they can unlock it, but l would lose everything on it and that theres no way round that. l still find that hard to believe. its like forgetting the code for a new electronic lock on your new house with all your memorable things inside, and after 10 attempts it locks you out permanently, and only way to get in is to burn the whole house down to make a new empty one reappear. so this cannot be true right? He said bring the receipt and they can also unlock the icloud, but now that l use an iphone 6s that has icloud, which is shared with my mbpr, is there a need to have an icloud account on the iphone 5s which is still locked and disabled (as l find it quite emotionally difficult to reset it and lose all thats in it). Reason l am saying this about icloud may be just out of ignorance, the only function l use the icloud for is 'reminders' , eg can type it out on my mbpr and have it appear on my iphone 6s. are there any other uses, since l get a free 15GB (currently sufficient)from google photos, which backs up automatically photos / videos that l have taken with my iphone 6s, also have dropbox and google drive. so a need for icloud for my disabled iphone 5s? lastly and most important does anyone know of a way of getting unlocking this 'disabled' status , with all memorable things intact? maybe this Apple store assistant is not the most knowledgeable?
