Well, just when you thought things might be going OK, they throw you a curve ball. I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS10 and things went just fine. Did it over the air and had no hiccups. Went to back it up, after the update and when iTunes popped up I got a popup and the iPhone would not connect with iTunes. After restarting the iMac (Late 2006), running 10.7.5, still no luck. Plugged and unplugged the iPhone multiple times and still get the same message.

The iPhone has asked multiple time whether to trust the computer or not and has been instructed to trust it. Not sure if that's related or not. The version of iTunes is older, too, so maybe that has something to do with it? It worked fine on all recent updates.

Now I'm kinda stuck, because I can't even revert to the previous iOS without accessing iTunes. Any ideas would be helpful. I've run through my repertoire.

Still no luck. Any ideas for reverting to the previous version of iOS without being able to access my iTunes backup? If I am right, I think I have at least one iCloud backup out there, but have no idea how to access it.

Well, whatever you do DO NOT try to restore it unless you are absolutely positive you have iCloud backups. Apple walked me through it today and I've got an iPhone that contains nothing but the OS and what I've managed to download from the App store. Music and photos are gone, except for what was backed up on my computer and that's inaccessible. And, even after the wipe, iOS10 is still on it. Guess I need a new computer.
The tech said that you need the latest versions of iTunes, not available for some of us on older Macs. Too bad they didn't say that upfront.

Well that sucks….I only backed it up with iTunes, Everything on my computer has been working fine on 10.7.5. So I have to upgrade the OS just to back up my phone ?
